Man steals $3.5 million from his father’s farmhouse, leaving him destitute

Man steals more than $3 million from the father’s rural Pennsylvania farmhouse and leaves him destitutes, authorities said Wednesday.

John P. McBride, 63, fled the home in the village of St. Josephs about 12:30 p.m.

Wednesday after the family’s $5,000 cash was stolen, officials said.

McBride, who had been living in a small house in St. Francis Township, was charged with two counts of theft by deception, officials with the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The money was later recovered from a storage locker at the property, authorities added.
